Branches of HopeBuild |
HopeBUILD’s MissionHopeBUILD will provide fresh produce through "Urban Gardens" and "Farmer’s Markets" to promote "Healthy Lifestyles" and enrich cultural traditions in neighborhoods suffering from indifference and neglect. Click on one of our Branches to the left for more information. HopeBUILD’s VisionWe want all St Louis residents to live in healthy communities with viable green spaces and access to neighborhood grown produce. We seek to partner with communities by resourcing and empowering them to grow community gardens and contribute to the cause of food security, particularly in St. Louis’ underserved areas. Additionally, by providing healthy food sources within communities, who may not otherwise have access to good food, we join the fight against diseases related to poor nutrition (i.e. obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other such chronic diseases). We believe that the existence of a produce-based garden within a community must be coupled with education in order to truly promote healthy lifestyles. Therefore, we offer nutritional education to our communities regarding the benefits of eating fresh produce—this includes, facts about powerhouse foods, recipe-sharing, and the economics of eating well. |
